Floors change as you move east. Inland towns like Harlingen and San Benito sit on heavy farm-country clay, where slab cracks are the main issue. Closer to the Laguna Madre and on the island, the air carries salt, the ground sits only a few feet above sea level and storm flooding is a real concern.
